Website Shetland Arts
Shetland Arts are seeking a freelancer photographer to work with us to capture fantastic images of some of our participatory creative arts projects across Shetland.
What we’re looking for
We want to capture people enjoying participating in activities rather than capturing finished work, so we’re looking for a photographer who has experience capturing action/activity shots.
We’d like to capture different aspects of arts activity – close up shots of hands and textures of materials, group shots of people working together, and images of creative practitioners leading and supporting workshops. We hope our photographer would have an interest in creative arts activity generally, and be confident working with a wide variety of people.
Some of our activities involve vulnerable adults, and young people. Our photographer should have an understanding of procedures for the protection of vulnerable adults and young people, and be able to capture images with these in mind (such as photographing activity without showing people’s faces). They should understand the need to gather and record consent for photography and would be supported by Shetland Arts and creative practitioners in this task.
Communicate with creative practitioner (supported by Project Manager) to arrange the best day/time to photograph projects.
Capture images of workshop activity, participants undertaking arts activity and working together, creative practitioners leading and supporting participants.
Edit and deliver a selection of photographs to Shetland Arts.
Use of your work
Photographs will be available for use by Shetland Arts to illustrate and promote its creative education and participatory activities. Photographs will also be available to creative practitioners for their own promotion/illustration of their work. Photographer will always be credited for all images.
