Website YWCA Scotland - The Young Women's Movement
ScotWomenSkills is back from 9th June – 14th July!
ScotWomenSkills offers young women space to learn, grow, and network in preparation for (re)joining the job market.
Our Status of Young Women in Scotland 2020-2021 report found that young women are negatively impacted by the knock-on effects of the pandemic on the economy, and particularly in employment. We’ve designed the ScotWomenSkills programme to support self-identifying young women under 30 in Scotland in gaining confidence, identifying transferable skills, and building resilience as we face economic uncertainty across sectors.
ScotWomenSkills is a free 6-week online programme designed to equip you with confidence, skills and a network of other young women across the country as you enter, or re-enter the job market.
The programme has 6 sessions, facilitated by both our National Programmes Team and external facilitators to provide you with tailored training opportunities. You can sign up to attend all the sessions or you can pick and choose!
1 Introduction – a chance to meet other people and build relationships
2 Confidence Building – tools for tackling imposter syndrome, identifying your strengths and recognising your worth
3 Transferrable Skills – applying your existing skillset to the workplace
4 Applying for jobs – routes into work, tips for CV writing
5 Interview Tips – building skills to help you in interviews
6 Networks and next steps – meet orgs who can you support in your next steps
All participants will have the opportunity to join a digital network of programme alumni (e.g. WhatsApp group, Facebook group, Slack, Discord – platform to be determined) to maintain networking opportunities and cultivate a community of young women for mutual support and knowledge-sharing going forward.
We are particularly keen to receive applications from women who are typically disadvantaged by the systems in place; including (but not limited to) parents, women of colour, disabled women, LGBTQ+ women, and women who are minoritised in other ways by society and/or the job market. The programme will run on Zoom, which has a captions feature we can implement.
Our third ScotWomenSkills programme will run from the 9th June – 14th July, Thursdays from 9.30am – 11.30am
