Scottish theatre company creating plays about social history

Knights Theatre are looking for a Social Media & Communications Officer to work on a production of Jennie Lee: Tomorrow is a New Day, a new play taking place in Fife in November 2024.

Jennie Lee: Tomorrow is a New Day is a play by Matthew Knights about the radical Labour politician Jennie Lee who was born in Lochgelly, Fife in 1904. After being elected for North Lanark at age 24 as one of the first female MP’s before she could vote she went on to become the first ever UK Minister for the Arts and founder of the Open University. The play will be presented at Lochgelly Centre and Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline in November 2024 in partnership with ONFife and the Open University in Scotland, supported by Creative Scotland.

We are looking for a Social Media & Communications Officer who can help the company deliver this exciting production in Fife where Jennie Lee’s story has a powerful resonance. The main responsibilities of this role will be to manage social media accounts building the profile and online presence of the company in order to drive ticket sales, creating high quality and engaging visual content and copy which can reach out to new people especially those who do not regularly attend theatre. You will be hard working and organised and able to plan a timeline and strategy for maximising social media engagement linking with the wider marketing strategy of the company, liaising with the Associate Producer and Artistic Director. There will also be opportunity to be involved in community development work including creative writing workshops and rehearsals taking place in the local Fife communities. We welcome applications from creative individuals who are passionate about cultural activity which challenges social injustice and empowers communities.
