JGProducing develops artist-led small-scale Scottish work

To design and programme sound for a small-scale production with 3 performance dates in September 2024.

Production: Common Tongue, written and directed by Fraser Scott.

Dates of Engagement:
Rehearsals w/c 9th September 2024
Rehearsals w/c 16th September 2024
Production Week w/c 23rd September 2024
Performances 26 – 28 September 2024

Fee: £3200 (based on ITC Designer rates)

Commitment: Approximately 15 days of work (10am-6pm) inclusive of design time, 4 days of technical rehearsal attendance, monthly design meetings and production meetings in the month leading to the performance.

Common Tongue is a new play written and directed by Fraser Scott presented in association with Cumbernauld Theatre in September 2024.

‘Common Tongue’ is a stravaig through how we spik and why we hate it.
A fast pace and quick witted one-person show appraising Scots and the modern attitude towards it. An exploration of Scottish language, identity, its intersections and patter.
Common Tongue sees Bonnie, a young woman from Renfrewshire, navigate her relationship with the way she speaks, coming to grips with the implications of her language, dialect and accent.

The production will be presented for 2 dates in the Studio Theatre at The Lanternhouse at Cumbernauld Theatre and 1 further performance date at Scottish Storytelling Centre this September.

Desirable candidates should:
– Be strong team players
– Have a strong connection to Scotland and Scots language
– Have experience working and touring Scotland at this scale

The pre-production process will take place remotely, all candidates should be available to work in person from w/c 16th September.
