Tech Start-up Founder but with a long way to go

Hey CEC! I'm Darren Nicol an ex Energy Engineer looking to mix things up a bit, both in my career and my previous industry.

One of my favorite sayings is, 'all that wander are not lost', this sums me up as my path has been different for sure, it has taken me from Aberdeen to Brisbane to Florida to Cape Town and now back to Glasgow.

It has included working in various roles, studying along the way and also a spell giving back in the USA and the townships of Cape Town and of which has shaped who I am and I have loved every minute of it but now I want to put my skills into my own venture, as Jerry Garcia said 'don't be the best in the world at what you do; be the only one in the world who does what you do.' That's my aim, to be the only ones that provide freelancers work with a WOW factor!

So here I am in Glasgow…..tech start-up and I’m excited about what the future may bring and I'm reaching out to build my network of friendly folks that want to make a difference. I'm looking forward to meeting you all! Namaste.

Creative Activist
Content Creation

📝 #psoriasisawareness & #skinfluencer / 💻 Digital Marketer at Scottish Ballet / 🤓 Startup Grind Chapter Director - Glasgow / 👩🏻‍🦳Campaigner at Changing Faces /
Experienced content creator with a demonstrated history of working in the arts, high-growth startup & digital healthcare industry. Skilled in community building, social media marketing, and digital marketing.

I'm Natalia, I help CEOs, founders and creative leaders to tell their strategy and vision with a story.

I didn’t learn about storytelling in books.

I’ve spent many hours listening to the best speakers and influencers at the United Nations. Many of them didn’t have a degree or any knowledge about how to make an effective presentation, yet when those leaders spoke, people listened.

I believe in the power of stories; our stories express our values and our vision.

When the indigenous peoples started their international work they didn’t have a marketing budget or expertise in communication or branding, but they did have stories. And that’s all they needed.

That's all you need too.

Nigel G Honey is a Film Editor, the Only Certified Avid / Davichi Resolve Instructor in Scotland, discouraged from working in the industry due to hidden disabilies, he went on to edit Films for Cannes, Raindance, Edinburgh and BAFTA. He has proven even If you are disabled you can still work in the Creative Industries.

Professional Coach
Leadership & Business Development

I uniquely combine relevant and comprehensive experience in the screen industries, together with being a qualified executive coach, life coach and action learning facilitator. I established Considered Thinking in 2014, to focus on providing executive coaching, mentoring, facilitating, training and business process review services, primarily within the creative and tech industries.

I have worked in international business development and management for over 30 years, with significant experience across many sectors and environments, including multinational corporate, SME, education, voluntary, charity, public sector and health. I have a passion for self-improvement and developing other people, with a track record of nurturing, developing and reinvigorating talent. A key all-rounder, my experience within the film industry covers distribution, sales and acquisitions for theatrical and home entertainment, together with cinema exhibition and film production.

I co-founded Park Circus in 2003 and was instrumental in successfully building the company from part-time start-up to the leading worldwide distributor of classic and back catalogue films for theatrical exhibition, currently representing every major Hollywood and British studio and numerous independent rights holders, with offices in UK, USA and France. The company was successfully sold to Arts Alliance in 2014, when I played a key, enabling role within the negotiations.

Before entering the film industry, I worked for over a decade for the US electronics giant, Motorola, holding a number of senior international management positions.

With a formal education in digital technology, I practise precise attention to detail, particularly around processes, operations and problem solving through clever thinking and the implementation of effective systems.

Working with a variety of different brands and organisations is exciting as it gives me the opportunity to meet new people. I am passionate about creative collaborations and helping brands shout about how amazing they are.
