Elevenses with Joanna Süsskind-Whitney of Toad’s Caravan and All The Young Nudes™
August 26 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm BST
This week on Elevenses with CEC, our weekly chat show series we’ll be speaking with All the Young Nudes Life Drawing Club founder, Joanna Süsskind-Whitney about building a successful life drawing programme with a die-hard following in Glasgow. We will discuss how she managed to ride the lockdown wave and bring her unique
events online and around the globe to more than 400 artists per session.
Joanna will candidly discuss her side-hustle experience to date, discussing the ups and downs of this wild new online marketplace. She is keen to open up the conversation to talk about how other business owners and events organisers have tackled the issues in recent months and what we can all do, together to take things forward.
More on Joanna
Joanna runs Toad’s Caravan, which began as a creative collective for film makers and animators in 2010. Toad’s Caravan now operates as an umbrella brand for the co-working space she runs in the Southside of Glasgow with her husband, Ben Whitney.
TC is also the name under which Joanna creates creative animation & film content as well as being home to All The Young Nudes Life Drawing Club, which started in 2008 as a side project – something to do outside of work at The Glasgow School of Art where she worked at The Digital Design Studio (now the School of Simulation and Visualisation) as Digital Media Specialist. In this role, invented for Joanna, she was a 3D modeller, editor, producer and animator, plus she worked on some incredible 3D laser scanning projects: Stirling Castle, Rosslyn Chapel and coordinated the Mount Rushmore scanning trip.
Joanna wears many hats but mostly loves to play art director, although currently the favourite hat has to be house builder! She and husband Ben designed andare building their dream house themselves in Maryhill (bantaskinstreetbarn.com).
All The Young Nudes has always surprised Joanna with it’s popularity and success. Taking it online has been an eye opener – in the best way. Jonna is looking forward to discussing this move with the CEC community and hopes to have a conversation
about options and possibilities for the future of creative businesses online.
